This book represents the first systematic account of the social history of one of the oldest Jewish communities of the scattering from the second century BC. Oe. and until the abolition of serfdom in Georgia. On the basis of historical and ethno-linguistic analysis established the era, the geopolitical and economic conditions of trade and craft Jewish settlements in ancient Georgia, defined the territorial origin of the first Jewish settlers in the western and eastern Georgia, traced the change of social status of the community in different historical periods, [the aliens-Geres , vacant land tenants, serfs], and describes the features of the religious and intellectual, social and economic life of the community in pre-Christian slave Georgian society in the early feudal state and the Christian pozdnefeodalny period.

For the first time in the literature on the basis of archival materials and with the assistance of the field of ethnographic observations of the author describes the history of the emergence of European [Russian] Jews in Georgia in the early XIX century.

The book is designed for professionals and the general reader interested in the history of the Jewish communities of the scattering.
