Jewish Art

Translations of articles published in this collection are designed to fill the gap that exists in the literature in Russian, still practically does not address the topics of Jewish Art. Contents of the collection is limited to consideration of the works created by the Jewish Diaspora in Europe or under the influence of the principles of European culture in modern Israel, as well as those works of European art, the appearance was affected by these or other Jewish traditions. The author analyzes the work of architecture, sculpture, painting and graphics, introducing the reader to folk art and the skills, synagogue architecture and ritual objects, decoration of manuscripts and book illustration, artwork marriage contracts and diagrams explaining the philosophical treatise. Art critics and historians belonging to several generations and scientific schools demonstrate different methods of stylistic, iconographic, historical and cultural analysis of art works and study the individual artist.

In addition to those directly interested in the culture of the Jewish people, an anthology of research in the field of national artistic language may be useful to a wider range of people seeking to further understand how the general processes of development of European art and its specific products.
