He was 17 years old when he, without his family, immigrated to Israel. His family lived in Moscow. He soon became acquainted with Joseph Begun, who was already famous refusenik, and when that was arrested, went to visit an exile in Magadan region.

Well knowing English, Avigdor communicate with foreigners who were brought into the Union literature about Israel. In 1978, he translated the book into Russian by Rabbi Meir Kahane "Never again"
