"Ein Yaakov" is a popular collection of Talmudic Haggadah, compiled at the beginning of XVI century, p. Jacob ben Solomon ibn Habib and accompanying commentary editor. The first volume of this edition includes agadichesky material contained in a treatise Berachot ("Blessings"), the Babylonian Talmud.

Most of the life of Rabbi Yaakov ben Shlomo ibn Habib (about 1450-1516 gg.) Occurred in the last period in a long and glorious history of Spanish Jewry. Edition of the Ein Yaakov "completed after his death p. Levi Ibn Jacob, who gave the second part of this collection of name Beit Yaakov ("House of Jacob").

Anthology of Ein Yaakov won such popularity, which rarely gets to share some books. Until the mid XX century Ein Yaakov withstood more than a hundred editions of it was written about twenty comments. At the end of the XIX century a comment Ein Yaakov was Avragim Rabbi Yitzhak ha-Cohen Kook. In many synagogues, the custom of daily study of the Ein Yaakov between the afternoon Mincha prayer and evening prayer, Maariv. As a collection of parables, tales of the righteous, interpret the writing of the Torah, moralizing rhetoric and reasoning of philosophical-theological nature of the Ein Yaakov has become a truly popular book. Its study is often considered in connection with the foregoing in an ancient midrash Sifrei: "If you want to know Him by whose word created the world, study the Haggadah." It is important to note that the Torah scholars who are familiar with most agadot on the text of the Talmud, were found in Ein Yaakov important things for themselves.
