The basis of this book went to an ancient legend of the Lamed-vavnikah.

According to her, every minute, every generation in the world in secret from all live thirty-six righteous (lamed-vav in Hebrew just means "thirty-six").

They never make themselves felt, while those who live near them, not in danger, and when the threat disappears - and these people disappear.

And if you ever happen to that generation living on earth will be worthy of one of these thirty-six hidden saints will be the Messiah.

The same legend was inspired by the French writer André Schwarz-Bart on the creation of his famous novel "The Last of the righteous." According to the author, these humble, invisible people are so loved by God, that when one of them ascends to heaven, the Lord of the clock, measure the time before the Last Judgement, one minute ahead. "Lamed-vavniki - is the heart of the human race, and in them, as if in a common receptacle, pour all our troubles" - wrote Schwarz-Bart. Finally, we note that the total number of candles that we light during the holiday of Hanukkah, is equal to thirty-six - and it is intended to strengthen our faith in the Lamed-vavniks.
