The foreword 

Sources of this book which in the original carries the name of "Notes of Lubavitch's Rebes», have two histories. The first and main is connected with a name of previous head of CHabad, rebe Yosef-Yitzchack Schneerson. Many know, that after bolsheviks revolutions he has created in the USSR a powerful religious underground, conducting fight for each Jewish soul. Almost everyone know, that he managed to distribute influence of Lubavitch "on a global scale", from Brooklyn up to the Himalayas. But very few people is known, that Rebe, since young years and up to a gray hair in a beard, collected the Jewish stories, wrote down them and, having appeared abroad, the beginnings them to publish. So have appeared "Notes".It not Chassidic humour and not « the violinist on a roof ». In «Notes» it is told about real people and the true events that happened three hundred or four hundred years ago, in cities where there lived Jews, and, certainly, in places. It is the world of ours antcestors, lived deeply and truly, without importunate vanity of last generations. It is the world of a place described by the person which grew in it, avoiding meetings with clouds moovers and aspiring to people sincere and spiritual, not only in the, but also in all generations.Heroes of this book are not embellished. But they are selected. Rebe Yosef-Yitzchak chose Jewish destiny by a principle of cleanliness and depth. Many heroes of «Notes» argue and act extremely loftily. Also it is the truth so they and lived.

Among characters there are rithteous persons and sinners, wise men and gawks, Jews Polish, Belarus, Ukrainian all occupations and age. As a result there is extremely bright and volumetric picture of a life of our ancestors which one power line - unites search of the soul, search how to serve the Creator. Something has turned out like the novel-travel which prohonour pleasantly and interestingly will be to you.
