Rav Yitzchak Zilber: ... in the twenties of Palestine, which was dominated by the Zionist socialists, was a Jewish learning in the sense of a spiritual desert. It was hard to believe that in this poor, far from the centers of the country will be Jewish scholars of the Torah Yeshiva reborn. And in the thirty-third year here came from Vilna little-known Rabbi Avraham Yeshaya Karelitz (the Chazon Ish). And this man, not even formally a former rabbi, was recognized as the spiritual leader of the Jews of Eretz Yisrael, in the short term has organized a network of yeshivas and made the city of Bnei Brak Torah ... We hope that the way out, with God's help, in the light of the present book will be a great event in the world of the Russian-language literature on Judaism. We are talking about the most important in this era of the book on the Jewish world view, one might even say - perception of the world: how to feel God and his relationship with him. Emunah uvitahon - "faith and hope" - so it is called, despite a small amount, it takes pride of place in the legacy that has left us with the Chazon Ish. Alas, alas ... we are abiding in the world today, which mentioned in the title of the book as requiring more and more, and yet even many of those who consider themselves "believers and those who hope," not truly know what it is. .. The said book is a true encyclopedia and guiding in this area. The author of "poured into her soul", expressing his love for the Creator is truly a beautiful language, poetic and sublime ... This, however, requires the reader to high culture and language proficiency of the original. This translation is so well-known book on the Russian language, in spite of undoubted importance and need of the reach of many translation - the first fifty years that have passed since its writing.

A fragment from the book:

Two forces laid by the Creator in the human soul: love and hate. However, the relation of man to his neighbor is never defined and simultaneous joint action of these forces. At any moment only one of them, the other is eliminated before it, for they are a complete contrast to each other. That which one will be the winner, "who is to live and who is to die," in most cases is determined by human affairs, some of which lead to love, in accordance with human nature, and others - to hate. However, apart from these, relating to the affairs of human reason, there are other, hidden in the depths of our souls, to encourage love and compassion, even in relation to the person whom we see the first time and never knew before, and the love that was born this way continues continue to grow ... And like it is in the depths of the human soul forces driving to the same hatred is associated with what it was before, but only with the fact that one person "did not like" the other, and hatred, once started, continues to grow. This happens most often in people with a strong intellect and vivid, sharpened traits.
