In his book, distinguished historian of the ancient world, Professor Solomon Y. Lurie (1891 - 1964) analyzes the causes of stigma to the Jews in ancient times. The book was first published in 1922, and since the text was reprinted in an unaltered form. Meanwhile, in 1923, Lurie has prepared a new edition, which is the first time made available to readers. The author essentially rewrote the book, making it the numerous patches and increasing the amount of almost a quarter. The present edition went to a unique copy of the book Lurie with author's corrections, which is stored in the St. Petersburg Institute of History of Sciences.
Edition is replete with comments and attachments that contain a polemical correspondence Lurie with his father, which discusses the subject then just conceived the study, as well as three reviews published in Russia and Germany.
