Contemporary author of this book assures the reader that he did not necessarily die if it reads it, as happened with his predecessor, who enjoyed the publication of the Dictionary of the Khazars "from 1691, when this book was first written. In connection with the publication needed some explanation, however, that they were not too tiring, lexicographer invites readers to conclude an agreement: he would sit down to write these explanations before dinner, and the reader will undertake to read them after dinner. Thus, hunger forced the author to be concise and well-fed reader introduction does not seem too long.

1. The history of the "Dictionary of the Khazars"
The events described in this dictionary, there was, apparently, in the VIII or IX century AD (perhaps there were several such events), and in the literature it is commonly called "Khazar polemic." Khazars, an independent and powerful tribe, the warlike nomads, at the moment, not known stories, appeared from the East, driven by the hot silence.
