EDITOR'S INTRODUCTION OF FUNDS

1. On the meaning of the laws of Nida .

The Torah (Genesis , ch. 31) tells us the story of how our forefather Jacob fled from his father in law Laban. At the same flight Rachel , wife of Jacob , Laban stole " household gods " - his idols. Laban pursued Jacob , and when he caught up with him , he said : " ... why did you steal my idols ! " And Laban went to look for their idols around the camp of Jacob , and all looked at it , but I found none. And he went again to look for them in Rachel's tent . "Rachel had taken the images , put them in the camel's saddle, and sat upon them . Laban pereschupal all the tent, and found none. Rachel said to his father: " Let there be no shame in the eyes of my lord that I can not rise before you, for I have the usual women . " and he sought and found " teraphim . " Laban , when he pursued Jacob to take their idols would do anything - even kill Jacob . Why Rachel, Laban did not keep up, so he could search all ? Ramban in his commentary on the Torah, explains the ancient sorcerers , though they were wicked and idolaters , understand much of how the world works , and they knew that from the woman in Nida definitely need to move away .

Below we present an excerpt " Sanctity of Time" from the book by Norman Lamb " Hedge lilies ," which gives some philosophical explanation of the laws of Nida . (Text provided by Nathan Fajngold Russian translation , publishing house " Shvut Ami " ) .
