A fragment from the book:

However, referring to all physical pleasures, despite the exaggerated cult of consumption, the desire for a sense of joy can not satisfy. It is here that made the difference between man and animal, here is the scope of the human soul.
These three kinds of pleasures are like three estimates of human actions, which are the Vilna Gaon in his commentary on the proverbs of Solomon:
a) "pleasant" - the satisfaction of drives;
b) "useful" - doing things, the need for which is known the mind. All of this leads to satisfaction, which is called pleasure;
c) "good" - the true performance of kindness, to fulfill our spiritual challenges that ultimately brings us true joy.
If you look closely, you'll notice that in any enjoyment contains spiritual. This is what the philosopher Rabbi Ibn Pakuda Bahia, in his book "Acts of the soul": When a person eats, he is everything else is involved in yet another better process than the food - it is a spiritual enjoyment. Taking care of your body, nourish it, quenching his thirst, etc., a person is doing something important, namely: it takes care of the body and protects the health, since it is also his spiritual duties. After all, God gave us a body, so we kept it.
However, even when a person eats, not at all thinking about health, yet it is in the subconscious of a spiritual pleasure. What is it manifested? The fact that in any case in which a person is engaged solely for pleasure, not just fun.
Another example of pleasure - the pleasure of beauty. No one has ever seen a single animal, which would come in delight while taking in some scenery. Enjoying the beauty and spirit has manifested in the human soul.
