The Russian edition of the Talmud represents translation and adaptation of the edition of Steintaltz's Talmud in Hebrew. Possessing practically all features peculiar Hebrew's to the version, it is in addition adapted and expanded for the Russian-speaking reader. The edition is calculated as on the prepared readers, capable to study the Talmud in the original, and on the beginners unfamiliar or nearly so unfamiliar with Hebrew, not having experience of studying of the Talmud.

The common structure of page is similar traditionally accepted in standard printed editions of the Talmud. The text is placed in the center of page, and near to it there are basic comments. In the bottom of page and on fields - additions And appendices.

Original the Hebrew-Aramaic text placed in the center of each page, nothing differs from traditional òàëìóäè÷åñêîãî the text (the material removed not Jewish edition, it is restored on the basis of manuscripts and old editions). The main innovation that this èâðèòñêî-àðàìåéñêèé the text is supplied vocalization and a punctuation, and everything, usually reduced, terms are brought in the full form. For preservation of communication with numbering pages of the original of number of pages are brought on each page from above, and also inside of the text.

We have placed translation into page on the right, and its punctuation is entered in the Talmud's text that helps to be guided with this text. The translation which has been carried out by us for the present edition - result of serious philological and literary work. This translation, on our plan, should not only assist the reader during his attempts to understand literal sense of the original. It is called to create at the reader real representation about stylistic and intonational features of the Talmud, to help him to feel alive rhythmics of expressive and lapidary speech of the ancient Jewish text.

The comment brought to the book - not just the explanation of difficult places. This is the complex interpretation of the text. It contains full text translation of the Talmud together with notes, and also the comment in a traditional writing of Rushi.
