Rabi Moshe BENNAHMAN ( Ramban )
Prominent Jewish thinker Rabbi Moshe ben Nachman ( Ramban ) was born in the Spanish city of Girona in 4955 (1195 ) year. Having begun to learn from the well-known rabbis of his time, Rabbi Yehuda ben Yakara and Rabbi Nathan ben Meir , he gradually became a recognized authority apahicheskim , whose decisions were guided by communities in many countries of the diaspora . Proceedings of the Ramban , especially his explanation of the Talmud and the monumental commentary on the Pentateuch, it is still widely studied in the Jewish world .

In 5023 (1263) , the Aragonese king Ramban forced to participate in the debate about faith with a monk - vykrestom Pablo. The great sage with dignity denied attacking Christians in the Talmud , and clearly showed the absurdity of their interpretation of Scripture. Shortly after the dispute Ramban on the orders of King leaves Spain and sent to Eretz Yisrael. After a long journey in autumn 5027 (1267) , he arrives in Acre , where soon sent to Spain to his son Nachman 's famous letter containing the basic principles of Jewish ethics . Ramban visited many holy places in Eretz Yisrael , and on the basis of what he saw substantially revised the comment to the Torah. After a visit to Jerusalem , he settled in Acre , who was then the center of Jewish life, where he died in 5030 (1270) year.

The book tells of Shalshelet Akabala tradition associated with the death of Ramban . Before leaving Spain, he told his disciples that the day of his death will break the stone on the grave of his mother. Devotees have regularly visited the cemetery. And one day they saw a gravestone divided. So the whole house of Israel learned of his irreparable loss .
