INSTRUCTION TO TALMUD STUDY is aimed at students as well as general readers who wish to familiarize themselves with the basics of Talmud and can serve as a manual for beginners.
This book contains translations of classical works as well as articles written by modern authors on the essence of the Talmud. Included are: (1) The "Introduction to Talmud," by Rabbi Shmuel Hanagid (993-1056), on the definition of the basic components of the Talmud; (2) Laws pertaining to the study of Torah. (3) A brief grammatical review of talmudic Aramaic and an Aramaic Russian dictionary of words and expressions commonly used in the Talmud. The preface to this edition has been written by Rabbi Aden Steinzalz, scholar and editor of the scientific Talmud edition. For the convenience of the student charts and diagrams are included.
